ELOQUENT NOISE: an exhibition of drawings by Alex McIntyre
Showing at: The Belgrade, Coventry 27 October – 2 November and The Swan Theatre, High Wycombe 5 – 11 November
‘Eloquent Noise’ is in association with ‘Soul Sister’, a new musical inspired by the life and times of Ike and Tina Turner which is currently touring in the UK.
Alex spent nine days observing and drawing the performers in rehearsals for ‘Soul Sister’ prior to their first run at the Hackney Empire in March 2012. Since then she has been working on a body of drawings and paintings using her original observations as reference points. She has sought to capture a sense of the performer’s energetic movements in space, and with each other, as they practiced and perfected their art.
The resulting drawings are made up of fluid lines and marks. Bordering on abstraction, the pieces reference the body, music, time and gesture. Alex is inspired by people and by their relationships to space and each other.
Digswell Arts Trust sponsors the exhibition.
